Lamy Pavilion, Los Angeles*
This single room, two story addition is defined at its center by a freestanding steel framework. The addition is enclosed on two sides by the original clapboard exterior of the existing house, but held off from it with a continuous skylight. A feature balcony knits together old with new by extending from the existing second floor master bedroom while secured by steel “suspenders” held by new steel roof trusses.
